Dashes or periods in keywords are not ignored

Why is punctuation not ignored in keywords?

I want to add a dash “-” or a period “.” in my main keyword to make it more user-friendly, both in the title and the description.

Google doesn’t care about these punctuation marks when showing a keyword, but I can’t get the basic SEO marks in RankMath unless I take them out, which defeats the purpose of checking for quality of SEO in an article.

I get 25% instead of over 80% like I do without the punctuation marks, but these should be ignored by RankMath when checking for “compliance” with their SEO guidelines.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and we regret the inconvenience caused.

Currently, we look for the exact matches of the focus keywords, and even small variations in the keywords are not considered. This is something that we plan to improve in the future.

However, please note that these tests are only there for your reference to help you in optimizing your content. If you feel any of them doesn’t apply, please feel free to ignore them.

Google would be able to easily identify the variations of your keywords in the content and would show your website for relevant queries.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.
