    Rank Math free

    Hi

I have a few questions about my website http://www.nosleeplessnights.com please:

    1. I was looking at the advanced settings for image preview. If I select ‘standard’ does it allow google to use my full size image? I set large size in media settings to only 500px, which is a bit small maybe, so would prefer google to access the full size.

    2. My entire website thumbnails are not showing in google search listings. is this a known problem with RankMath, or globally?

    3. I use a static page for my home page. schema is showing it as ‘article’. how can I change that?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

To adjust the image preview settings on your website http://www.nosleeplessnights.com to ensure Google can access the full-size images, you can follow these steps:

    1. Optimizing Images for Google News: Ensure your images have relevant titles, captions, use Schema.org Image property, and og:image tag. You can set the social image for a post using Rank Math. Learn more about Image SEO.

    2. Technical Requirements: Google News uses the schema.org Author property. Set this up using Rank Math’s Author feature. Learn more about Author Schema Entity.

Regarding the thumbnails of your website not showing in Google search listings, this issue might be due to various factors such as poorly written content, keyword stuffing, low-quality inbound links, slow site loading, lack of mobile-friendliness, or excessive ads on your site. Even if your rich snippets are correctly configured, Google has the final say in displaying them.

If you’re facing issues with rich snippets, you can use Google’s Rich Results Testing Tool to identify and rectify any technical errors.

To change the schema of your static home page from ‘article’ to something else, you can configure the Schema Markup using the Rank Math plugin. Once you’ve made the necessary adjustments, wait for Google to re-index your pages. You can check if your pages are indexed using Google Search Console.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

    1. You may choose the default size which is Large as Google recommends using this value to indicate the largest image on the page. Large images, when shown in Google Discover, help the page stand out and can result in more traffic.

According to Google, the Standard value will show the default image preview, while Large means a larger image preview, up to the width of the viewport may be shown.

    2. Please note that Rank Math doesn’t have any control over how images in the SERP results are displayed and search engines display them as per their will and it mostly depends on the keyword search term and the website authority.

In this case, you may try to add relevant ALT text to the featured image or image you wanted to show, and chances are search engines will refer to it.

Here’s a guide you can follow as well:

    3. You can edit your homepage and change the applied schema under the Schema tab:

    Hope that helps.

    Hi

Thanks for your reply. Just a couple more things.

    1. If my large image dimensions in wordpress media setttings are only 500px, and I upload images of 800px normally, would ‘Standard’ not allow Google to use the full 800px image, rather than limiting google to the smaller 500px? Or would you still recommend selecting ‘Large’?

    2. Is there anything I could be doing wrong in the settings that might prevent google from using my images? I assume redirecting attachment pages to the post is fine, for example?

    3. The schema tab does not have an option for home. There are just 3 options. Am I right in thinking then that you can’t even have a home page schema if you are using rankmath free version?

    Thanks

    Hello,

    1. Even if your WordPress media settings limit image size to 500px, selecting ‘Large’ in Rank Math would still allow Google to use the full 800px image if it’s present on your site.

    2. Redirecting attachment pages to posts is generally fine. To help you decide, you can check this guide. Ensure your images have descriptive ALT text and are properly indexed. You may also check your robots.txt file to ensure images aren’t blocked.

    3. Can you please share a screenshot of these 3 options you see in the schema tab? Please note that having the Webpage, Publisher and Article schemas (which are the default schemas) should be enough for your homepage.

    Looking forward to helping you.
