Connecting Google Account and Analytics Permissions

I just updated and see the following:

1- Create a new Google Analytics account along with its default property and view

2- Edit Google Analytics management entities
View, add, update and delete Google Analytics management entities as well as view report data

3- View your Google Analytics data
    View your configuration information

    View your reports

    4- View your AdSense data
View your ad clients, ad units, and channels in AdSense

View your AdSense performance and earnings reports

5- View and manage Search Console data for your verified sites
View and manage Search Console data (e.g., manage your sites, submit sitemaps)

6- Manage the list of sites and domains you control
View and manage the list of sites and domains you control

View and manage the owners of domains you control

Please share exactly why each thing is needed, number by number. I need to understand exactly why I have to give you complete control of my account, even to delete everything if you want or a bad bug comes in an update that can delete all my sites.

Create new account, delete things, view my earnings, manage owners, manage all my sites, etc… Please. Share the details for the 6 permissions you are asking for.

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your message.

Please stay advised that the step is completely optional and your website’s SEO is not impacted by this.

The Analytics module helps you see crucial stats inside your WordPress dashboard after you connect your account with Rank Math’s Google app. Like this:

You can read more about that here:

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions, please let us know.

    Thank you.

That works with “View your reports”.

Can you please explain why to view and display a report you need permissions to delete my sites?

And please, the 6 things. I want to understand the 6 permissions you are asking for.

    Thanks.

*Why was this moved to search console? It belongs to Rank Math Suite, where I opened it.

    Hello,

    Sure:
    1. Create a new Google Analytics account along with its default property and view
This is added as an option inside the plugin so users can create a new default view for their Analytics account and for the new sites that do not have any Analytics connected with that Gmail account, to verify a new Analytics profile.

2- Edit Google Analytics management entities
View, add, update and delete Google Analytics management entities as well as view report data

Google does not allow separate permissions for editing only. This is a single scope and is used only to add/edit the Google Analytics properties.
The plugin uses this scope to only add a new view. You can not delete or edit a view as that is not allowed.

3- View your Google Analytics data
    View your configuration information
    View your reports

This is used to fetch the data from the selected Google Analytics account.

    4- View your AdSense data
View your ad clients, ad units, and channels in AdSense
View your AdSense performance and earnings reports

This is used to display the overall earnings from Google AdSense. This will be added to the upcoming Pro version of the plugin.

5- View and manage Search Console data for your verified sites
View and manage Search Console data (e.g., manage your sites, submit sitemaps)

This scope is needed to pull the data from Google Search Console and also submit the Sitemaps directly to Google Search Console.

6- Manage the list of sites and domains you control
View and manage the list of sites and domains you control
View and manage the owners of domains you control

This scope is used to verify a new domain to the connected Google account. This helps automate the process of verifying a site with Google Search Console, unlike old times when users had to manually verify their websites.

With that said, the Analytics module is completely optional.

In a few weeks time, we will be updating the following KB article on the information on how you can create and use your custom app:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/create-a-google-api-project/

Previously, it was easy to simply use a filter but with the updated automation we have added, some coding will be required. We will list all the steps clearly on how to achieve that.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.
