Hello. Thanks for your support so far. I have a question about CDNs. I’m trying to do what I can to speed up the website on mobile. The server response time at the moment seems very fast (under 0.2 secs) so I wonder if I need Cloudflare at all? The desktop loads quickly so no problem there. Google measures the mobile loading time at 3+ secs and calls it slow. I think the only problem is that a white screen shows during loading and I feel that might encourage people to leave. 3 seconds doesn’t seem a very long time for a site to be fully loaded on mobile to me.
I have 2 sites: mckennamusicevents.com and terencemckennaportraits.com The first (new) will probably only have traffic from London UK, whereas the second one gets traffic from all parts of the globe.
I’ve got WP Rocket installed with everything switched on.
Do you have any thoughts on this?
    Many thanks,
    Terence McKenna.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for the delay.

Since you are only experiencing an issue with the performance of your site on mobile phones only, I would recommend using Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP). It is an open-source web standard designed to speed up the delivery of content and advertisements on mobile devices.

You can check these links for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/using-amp-with-rankmath/
    https://mythemeshop.com/blog/wordpress-speed-optimization/#use-amp-accelerated-mobile-pages

I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.

Thank you, Reinelle. I’ll take a look.
    Terence.

I did look at AMP before but was concerned that I would lose the design features of my website that took time to perfect.
    Terence.

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us,

AMP pages are the recommended way to increase your page speed on mobile. Your site loading speeds here are not badly off.

According to Google the recommended loading time of a page on mobile should be less than 3second. AMP pages do offer close to instant loading times of a website.

The reason why AMP pages load instantly is that AMP restricts HTML/CSS and JavaScript, allowing faster rendering of mobile web pages. Unlike regular mobile pages, AMP pages are automatically cached by Google AMP Cache for faster load times on Google search. This is the reason why you might see a bit of change in your design.
In addition, all external resources such as images, iframes, and ads have to state their HTML size so AMP can determine each element’s size and position before the page resources are downloaded. AMP loads the layout of the page without waiting for any resources to download.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
