Citation Schema

I’m working with a group of news article writers who use traditional footnotes to cite their sources. Doing so is important to the site as a matter of credibility, so they stand out as a fact-based organization. I’d like to add citation schema to this section of the page, but it seems uncommon, as most writers opt for contextual links these days. Does your plugin support citation schema?

    Hi Kim,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

Rank Math does not offer citation schema, sorry.

With that said, I am not sure if any SEO plugin offers that.

If you need help with anything else, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Yes, I’m afraid you are right, I haven’t found any so far. Are you aware of it being used much – or of any alternative solution to benefit SEO? Or, has in-content linking become standard practice for citing sources, even for scholarly articles?

    Hi Kim,

    Thanks for the question.

This is quite uncommon. Rank Math however makes it possible to extend the existing schema data using a filter on your theme. You can also short circuit our schema data and inject custom schema data using the filters outlined on the following page: https://rankmath.com/kb/filters-hooks-api-developer/

I hope this info helps. Thank you.
