Changing Category URL in Sitemap.xml

    Hi,

I’d like to change the category URL from our sitemap.

    E.G.
    from: /category/anatomia/appendicular-skeleton/shoulder-and-arm/
    to: /category/shoulder-and-arm/

We redirect /category/anatomia/appendicular-skeleton/shoulder-and-arm/ to /category/shoulder-and-arm/ as they’re the same category page and would like to use the /category/shoulder-and-arm/ instead.

From the category’s page backend it used /category/anatomia/appendicular-skeleton/shoulder-and-arm/. We already change it’s canonical to /category/shoulder-and-arm/.

Is there a way to change the category URL in the sitemap_index.xml?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

The sitemaps by Rank math are automatically generated according to the published pages/posts/taxonomies set to index and the URL structure is according to the permalink of the post/page.

With that in mind the updated category should be showing up in your category sitemap. If it’s not, it is likely your sitemap is being cached. Please ensure to exclude your sitemap URLs from being cached, clear your cache then resave your permalink and sitemap settings. Let us know if this resolves your issue.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
