Changing Author Base gives an 404 error on author pages

    Hello,

If i change the Author Base, i get a 404 error when i visit an authorpage url. The URLs are updated, but the page itself does not seem to be found.

If i reset the Author Base value to author, i can just see the pages again and i don’t get a 404 error.
In other words, if i change the default term, the author pages no longer work.

How can i fix this? In the box “Sensitive Data” i added two screenshots for clarification.

    Hello,

I have doing a lot of tests there and I found you can change the author slug to any slug without problems, except to “gebruiker”. It even works with “gebruikers”.

I think it is a conflict, since it might have the CPT “gebruiker” added, so when you change the author’s slug to that one, WordPress doesn’t know if you are referring to the CPT or to the author and show the 404 error.

    Looking forward to help you.

Thank you very much for looking at this problem and providing a solution. This answered my question.
