    Can the date of an updated category be changed in WordPress? I need help finding information on changing the modified date of a category in WordPress using Rankmath. I understand that changing the modified date is essential so that search engines recognize new information on the page.

    If there is no way to change the date, can you explain why? I can’t find anything of value doing searches.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for the delay and for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

    Category and other taxonomy sitemap pages do not show a last modified date by default as they are dynamically generated pages. Only single posts (regular posts, pages, products, or other CPTs) have last modified dates as they are manually published and updated. You do not need to worry about the last modified dates for the taxonomy sitemaps.

    The best way to trigger a crawling of those pages is to make sure they are in the sitemap submitted to Google, which they should be since they are a part of the main sitemap and also have some internal links to them so Google can follow those and discover them easily.
