Can't verify my web site in Rank Math

I can’t verify my web site with Rank Math.
I installed The Headers & Footers plugin from WPBeginner to help, and I inserted the code from this page, but when I clicked “Verify”, I got the error message in the red band.

In Rank Math SEO analysis in my web site’s back office under Advanced SEO, it says:
You have not linked Google Search Console yet.

This is what I’m having trouble doing.
I’m nearly there, but I’m stuck.
Please tell me what to do next.
