Can't remove %site name%

    We just went from pages 1 & 2 on Google to can’t even find us after installing Rank Math. We have obviously triggered rank transition and are sandboxed again. The ONLY real visual difference between then and now is that even though I have the title set to title only for pages…. the plugin as went ahead and is adding %site name% to the end of all titles. As we all know several title changes at once will almost always trigger rank transition.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    We are sorry for the loss in rankings on your site. Can you confirm that you have not set the %sitename% variable on the post, page titles global settings via Rank Math > Titles & Meta as shown below:
    IMG

    Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    “Your current theme doesn’t support title-tag. Enable this option to rewrite page, post, category, search and archive page titles.”

    I had to allow it to rewrite titles. Not sure what a “title-tag” is but my theme does run the default WP title. Is there something special themes need for title in order to be compliant with your plugin?

    HI there,

    Thanks for the question.

    The title tag is a feature that allows themes to add document title tag to the <head> section of a page. In your case your theme author has not added provisions for this feature which does not really affect operation since enabling the option to rewrite titles in RM will add the titles to the <head> section.
    Please note that the title tag feature can be enabled by adding this code in your theme:
    add_theme_support( 'title-tag' );

    I hope this info helps.
