Can't edit description

When I try to edit the description of a blog post, it looks like it goes into the edit mode – but I can’t change anything. My cursor has no effect. The cursor will not insert “into” the text to add, delete, etc. My text is “frozen.”

I have a screenshot, but I do not see a way to upload that. Thanks ~

PS – I cleared all my caches and disabled a “no right click” plugin. That did not help. I am able to edit a different post with no problems at all (PMI info post)

In your video you delete the block of text – but it isn’t hightlighted before it is deleted, so I’m not completely sure why that is. I have created a very precise video of the same post, which is the “divorce appraisal” post. The url with that video is referenced above. You will clearly see that I can select ANY text on the page – EXCEPT – the description field. Thank you.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

Please deactivate all of your other plugins and test again.

If that does not help, leave us your WP admin access in the sensitive data field.

If you want to share screenshots you can upload it to your site and send us a link to the image on your site.

    Looking forward to help you.

    Hello,

We are unable to replicate this issue. I have added a video to the sensitive data section which shows the meta description field working perfectly.

Could you please give us the steps to replicate this?

In your video you delete the block of text – but it isn’t hightlighted before it is deleted, so I’m not completely sure why that is. Hey Rick,

We have replied to your email. Please do let us know if anything is still confusing.

    Thank you.

    Here is what the email said;

“That is the default meta description we pull from your post content. You cannot edit that but you can copy paste an excerpt from your content and paste it in there and then edit it. I am so sorry if this has been confusing. It is greyed out which means it is the default description when no description is entered by the user.”

What does that mean? How do I solve this issue? What does “no description has been entered by the user” mean? That’s exactly what I want to do.

I can edit it on a different post just fine. Not this one, or others. I don’t know which is which. I suppose if I really had to, I could identify which one can be edited and which ones can’t. But since we have the problem so clearly defined in the video I created, I think we are past nitpicky details. Fix this issue, and the others will be fixed as well.

The first answer was a brush off that avoided the issue. Now the second answer does the same. I have spent hours studying this, communicating this, researching this, and creating the video for you to see what it is I’m talking about.

Try again. A brush off is very upsetting.

You wanted to know if anything is still confusing?

    Yes it is.

How do I edit the meta description text.

Since we’ve discussed this a couple of times, and I’ve supplied a video, we can now be at the answer phase.

If I have to delete it and retype it fine. If I can edit it, even better.

Right now I have no help of any sort.

This is going to be a bad thing if you waste days of your customers time, have them reexplain things – create a video – and then, after ALL of that, ask them if things are still confusing.

Very bad. If you’re going to make a plugin, make it work. If it doesn’t work, answer your customer’s question. Don’t insult them by asking if anything is still confusing after you have given NO solutions of any kind.

    Bad. Very bad.

    Hi Rick,

    Thanks for the follow up.

I am sorry if any our previous responses sound evasive. I have just logged in to your site and I can see that the meta description text field is working as expected.

Since we’ve discussed this a couple of times, and I’ve supplied a video, we can now be at the answer phase.

If I have to delete it and retype it fine. If I can edit it, even better.

You can delete the current description and enter a new description which will automatically override the description that has currently been set. I have added a test description on this post and it saves correctly.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

NOW everything is gone for Rank Math. ALL the rank math functions are gone for my posts and my pages.

I checked the dashboard of Rank Math and SEO is active, so those options should be showing up, as they were before, but there is nothing. It’s like the program is not installed. It was completely there yesterday when I was working on it.

This issue is fixed. The Rank Math plugin was removed somehow. Now that it is restored, everything is there as it should be.
