Canonical tag doesn’t let me choose.

Hello, I recently replaced Yoast SEO for Rank Maths on a client’s website and we are having issues with the canonical tags. I know there is a spot to choose your canonical URL in the advanced tab, but either if I leave it empty or fill it with the canonical that I want, Rank Maths does setup another random canonical that isn’t the one I chose nor the URL of the current page.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hi Alex,

There is some grave issue on your website. I tried troubleshooting but couldn’t.

    1. There is no canonical setup in Rank Math so the canonical URL should be the same as the current post/page URL.

    2. I tried using the troubleshooting mode but it doesn’t show me the option to activate any plugin during troubleshooting

    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

    3. I tried disabling the ACF Pro plugin normally but that makes all your blog posts throw a 500 error so I enabled it again and couldn’t determine whether that is causing the issue.

    4. Multiple plugins have updates available but you haven’t updated them yet.

Now, I would request you to disable all plugin manually and keep only Rank Math enabled to determine if the canonical is added by Rank Math or if there is some other plugin on your website causing this.

Let us know how it goes.

Could you tell me which line of code to delete to stop rank math from writing canonical URLS?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

You can disable the addition of the canonical tags by copying the following code on your theme’s functions.php file:
    add_filter( 'rank_math/frontend/canonical','__return_false');

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
