    I want to know how to add a canonical link to product category page. All products under thatcategory will have virtually the same description and so I was thinking of canonical liking them to the category page but I BELIEVE I ALSO NEED TO CANONCICAL LINK THE CATEGORY PAGE TO ITSELF?

    You should do that ONLY if you do not want the products to rank. With that said, there is no real-life benefit of doing that but you might have your own reasons.

    You can set a canonical tag from the Advanced tab:
    null

    Hi, I know how to do it for the products to the category page. I believe I also have to do the canonical link to itself from he main page – in this case the category page.

    The reason for this is that I have a main category for wood effect vinyl and then 30 products which are all different colours and styles. I didn’t want to go down the multi variation route and as such have set each up as a different product. The only difference on the page will be the images and the title. I could maybe add the product colour a couple of times within the description but it will be about 90%+ duplicated. So I thought the best way will be to canonical each product to the main category page.
