I made the removal request on Searcg Console to thousands of old 410 url addresses, as I no longer have them or they are redirects.

The request was made 6 days ago, but I received errors again. What I do?

  • Hello, we’re sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with the removal request on Search Console. It’s important to ensure that the removal request was made correctly and that the URLs are indeed returning 410 status codes.

If you’ve already confirmed that the removal request was made correctly and the URLs are returning 410 status codes, it’s possible that there might be a delay in processing the request. Google Search Console may take some time to process the removal request, and errors might still appear during this period.

We recommend waiting a little longer to see if the errors are resolved. If the errors persist after a reasonable amount of time, you may want to consider reaching out to Google Search Console support for further assistance.

If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Can you please share a screenshot of the error in the Google Search Console so we can check this further? You can use a tool like https://imgur.com/upload

This will help us to investigate and troubleshoot the issue.

We look forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Google is marking those pages as 404 because it has previously indexed them and now they are no longer available. Naturally, Google will eventually remove them from its SERPs. You could create a redirect for them that perhaps goes to an alternative item or the homepage, this way no SEO juice is lost.

In summary for the errors you encountered with GSC, please refer to these guides:

    -Page with redirect: https://rankmath.com/kb/page-with-redirect/
-Alternate page with proper canonical tag: https://rankmath.com/kb/alternate-page-with-proper-canonical-tag/
-Not found (404): If these pages/URLs are intended to be removed from your site, you can safely ignore.

    We hope this helps.

    Thank you.

I didn’t look at the URLs you told me, as they are deleted content. But search engines take years to eliminate results. Furthermore validations continue to fail.

What do I do with the feeds instead? They have code 200, even if the content does not exist. Could they cause problems and prevent the results from being removed from Search Console?

    Hello,

We checked some of your 404 pages and we can see the 410 redirection is added there properly.

In this case, you can ignore the errors as Google will automatically remove them from your GSC account.

Regarding the feed URLs, they are only the basic code versions of your actual content pages. You will not want these pages to be indexed as Google doesn’t like them and would most likely not show them to users anyway.

If you want to disable them on your site, you can follow this guide:
    https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/wordpress-disable-rss-feed/

Alternatively, you can disallow bots from crawling the feed URLs from the robots.txt file at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Edit Robots.txt

    User-Agent: *
    Disallow: */feed/

Once done, give Google some time to recrawl your site to reflect the changes.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

    User-agent: *
    Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php
    Disallow: /wp-admin/
    Disallow: */feed/

    Hello,

Seems you have updated the robots.txt file to prevent bots from crawling the feed URLs.

As suggested earlier, give Google some time to recrawl your site. You can request the indexing of your pages by passing it through the URL Inspection Tool and request it there: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/ask-google-to-recrawl.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
