Can I (Should I) Redirect my Blog Feed URL?

    Hi Guys,

I have a purpose built landing page that will include my default blog URL’s POSTS (they will all be pulled
by category). I’m doing this for UX etc….

QUESTION: Can I safely use the redirection in Rank Math for this URL? I just want to make
sure because this is the URL set in ‘Reading’ in WordPress and sometimes WP can get finicky
    with this kind of stuff.

    Thanks!

    Ken

  • Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

Yes you can redirect this with Rank math as follows:

    Source: ^/blog
     Target: https://yoursite.com/yourpage

Since you wish to have your custom page containing the latest posts and if you are using WP default settings to pull this you; you should consider changing your posts page to your custom page.

If you are using a custom function to pull posts URLs to your page, you can set the unset the page selected in WordPress settings > Reading > Posts Page:
    img

Hope this helps you. If you have any further questions, we will be happy to assist.

    Thank you

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for getting back to me on this!

So let me confirm if I understand (and I have one follow up below):

I want to redirect my root ‘blog’ URL to my new landing page URL (see the sensitive section that I updated).

Then I want to set my ‘posts’ page in ‘reading’ to ‘Select’ so it’s essentially not selecting any page?

Do I have the above correct?

(NOTE: I’m using Thrive Architect (Thrive Themes) in this setup.)

    QUESTION:

Is there a better way to achieve this that you would recommend?

    Ken

P.S. LOVE Rank Math so far!

    Hello,

Thank you for the follow up.

Redirecting your blog to your new landing page would have any instance of your blog URL previously indexed redirecting to the new blog page.

Selecting none will make sure the default blog page doesn’t really exist on your site to have you ending up with two blog pages.

Your new landing page URL doesn’t seem to be working yet. If you have any issues, please let us know and we will be here to assist you.

    Thank you
