I wouldn’t recommend running both plugins at the same time as this will affect your SEO, especially on the frontend metas.
However, if you wish to make use of our plugin just for audit which I assume the SEO Analysis and Content Analysis, you can do so and after that, deactivate the Rank Math plugin right away so you don’t have conflicts with Yoast.

2. Is it necessary to run the Yoast importer in order for my plan to work?

2. Yes, since you mentioned that you would like to keep your Yoast setup as-in, you may need to run the importer for Rank Math to analyze your current settings.
3. Deactivating/Uninstalling Rank Math on your site should be fine as the settings you’ve set up from Rank Math will be removed as well. However, there are data that will still be stored in your database for activating Rank Math again. You can remove them and start a fresh install by following the steps at this link:
