Breadcrumbs: category links do not work properly

    Hello!

    Let’s start from a simple issue.

    The website is using “Twenty Twenty” theme and only two plugins — Classic Editor and Rank Math.

    Breadcrumbs are added via shortcode. And category links are always shown. The plugin option to hide/show categories doesn’t work and it doesn’t matter which category term is selected as primary.

    Hopefully, when you localize the problem, we can normally use the breadcrumbs on another website, where it’s not showing categories at all.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    It is not recommended to call the breadcrumb shortcode within the posts loop. I’ve gone ahead and added the PHP snippet on the following file for illustration: template-parts/entry-header.php

    Hi,

    I have a separate breadcrumbs issue.

    When I add “show blog page” it links all jobs to “atlanta gig economy jobs” in hierarchy.

    I am hoping to display a proper hierarchy. So if a job is located in Cincinnati the previous page in hierarchy should be “Cincinnati Gig Economy Jobs”. How can I accomplish this?

    Hi Michael Davis,

    OK, let’s start from another angle.

    I’ve cloned the original website (where category links are not showing at all), disabled all plugins except Classic Editor and Rank Math, switched to the “Twenty Twenty” theme and added the breadcrumbs line to template-parts/entry-header.php.

    And voila — they are still not showing!

    Maybe you can have a look and tell what the hell is going on?

    Hello,

    Rank Math shows the primary category of the Primary Taxonomy selected in Dashboard >> Rank Math >> Titles & Meta >> Post ( CPT ) >> Primary Taxonomy. On your site, you had not selected any primary taxonomy that’s why the category link was not appearing in the Breadcrumb. I went ahead and selected Categories in Primary Taxonomy, the Breadcrumb is now showing Primary Category in the Breadcrumbs.
