Breadcrumb for downloads

    We are currently working with Rank Math as our go-to SEO plugin on WordPress. We came across a problem with our breadcrumbs and the url display and were wondering if you know how to get this working:

    We are currently setting up our downloads section of the website. We want to have the main download page and as a child’s specific downloads will be linked. We have created two downloads in WordPress to test this: ‘Downloads’ and ‘BPA Server downloads’

    Example URLs: –>
    Example breadcrumb we want with these URLs:
    Home / Downloads –> Home / Downloads / BPA Server downloads

    Instead what we see is this: –> Home / BPA Server Downloads
    Here we miss the download breadcrumb betweem ‘Home’ and ‘BPA Server downloads’

    When we give the download ‘BPA Server downloads’ the parent ‘Downloads’ (the other download we created) we see this: –> Home / Downloads / BPA Server downloads

    As you can see above we have two times the word ‘downloads’ in the URL, so it is exactly the opposite.
    No parent = good url, bad breadcrumb vs. With parent = bad url, good breadcrumb.

    Can you please help us to make this work? If this is possible or maybe tell us the right way of doing this.

    Thanks for getting in touch with us.

    You can choose what you want to use in the URL and the Breadcrumbs by marking a category as Primary in your CPT.

    Uhm, thanks for your help, but not exactly the answer we are looking for. The problem is that, we create downloads as a custom post type. So the parent category is “Downloads” (ALWAYS) because it is a category given by wordpress itself. And if we assign manually again the category downloads to this custom-post-type downloads will apear double in our URL. Can we maybe set up a session or something so I could show you what I mean?
