Basic SEO test: Post Titles Missing Focus Keywords

    Hello to the team,

On my wordpress website (and probably similarly to most web sites), I won´t be able to pass the Basic SEO test: Post Titles Missing Focus Keywords, for my wordpress “pages”.
“Homepage”, “Contact”, “About us” pages, as examples.

Indeed, since these “pages” are usually the items displayed in your website main menu, they just can´t have longtail keyword title and are usually made up of 1 generic word title (“About”, “Contact”, “Services”, “Home”).

So those pages will, IMHO, always be flagged by the “Post Titles Missing Focus Keywords” unless the “focus keyword” for each page is actually the Page title itself, which is senseless, I assume.
For example, for “About us”, I would have to set focus keyword as “About” or “us”, which has no sense.

Maybe this Basic SEO test: Post Titles Missing Focus Keywords, shall not apply to WP pages.

In conclusion, within SEO Analyser, shall I just ignore the fact that this Test is failing for my wordpress pages ?

    What do you recommend ?

    Petrich

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Please note that in the Post Titles Missing Focus Keywords test, Rank Math checks whether your focus keyword is present in your post’s title, not in your SEO title.

Also, the title of the page and the SEO title are two different things, and the test looks for the presence of the keyword on the title of the page, not the SEO title.

For more details, you can check this URL: https://rankmath.com/kb/seo-analysis/?#post-titles-missing-focus-keywords-test

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

Thanks, I appreciate your answer, but it does not really help.

the title of the page and the SEO title are two different things

I agree with this, but that’s exactly my point !
This test checks that focus keyword exists in the page/post title (not the SEO title) which can easily be solved for any post (by changing the post title to anything including Focus keyword…

But how can it be solved for the main pages of a website (Home – Blog – About us – Contact …) if you can´t change the title of those pages because they are displayed in the main menu with their individual title (Home – Blog – About us – Contact …) ?

I think this same question was raised by different users of Rank Math Pro since I found several support tickets opened with a very similar description but I am not able to see the answers that were given to these tickets.

    Hello,

The only way to solve this is by setting the title with the focus keyword, there’s no other way around this.

You can decide to ignore this test if it’s not relevant for your use case but it’s not possible to override this in any way.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Ok, That’s what I thought.

    Thanks for clarifying it.

    Hello,

Glad that helped. If you have any other questions in the future, know that we are here to help you.

If you don’t mind me asking, could you please leave us a review (if you haven’t already) on https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/seo-by-rank-math/reviews/#new-post about your overall experience with Rank Math? We appreciate your time and patience.

If you do have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.
