    This is the message I get in the attachments set up and I don’t understand how to get to the redirection parent to correct the problem.
    Also, I am not even sure if this is a problem.

    To configure attachment-related meta tags disable attachment redirection to parent.

    I am confused if I should do this or not. How will this help my rankings either way (disable or not–disable)?

    Hello,

    Usually, it is better to have enabled that redirection. Attachment pages are pages with just your images. Since it has nothing more, Google sees them as “thin content” pages so it can affect (negatively) your rankings.

    So the best thing is to redirect them to the post (or posts) where their images are being used, so you avoid those issues. Don’t worry, it doesn’t affect your images, they will still be indexed by Google.
