Archives as Pillar Content

I am trying to figure out how I can make Archives Pillar Content.

I am working on an Architect’s website and we have his different type of projects set up as different custom type posts (using JetEngine). Say one type is “New Homes” and another is “Renovation”. Each type has an Archive (set up via Elementor template) that lists all projects of that type.

I would like these Archives to be marked as Pillar Content (which they are), but I don’t see an option for that. Am I missing something? Is that something that could be added? Is there a workaround in the meantime?

    Many thanks.

  • Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

I am sorry but Rank math only allows adding posts or pages as pillar content. This would not be recommended to be added to categories since categories don’t have actual content.

As a workaround, you can mark a number of the main posts/pages added to the category as pillar content then use this. This articles explains this better, please check: https://www.seosorcerer.com/pillar-content-wordpress-category-pages/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Hey Michael, thank you for the quick reply. I get your point and agree with the content of the article (thanks for that one…I think it’s one of the clearest description of Pillar Content I have read).

That said, I feel I need to clarify something, and maybe it has to do with the fact that these are Archive pages created from an Elementor template. These Archive pages, unlike Category Archives are not just dynamically aggregated collections of posts. They have fixed content in addition to dynamically created collections. The New Homes Archive has a header slideshow of new homes, followed by a short write up about new homes. It’s only after that, that we list the new homes posts. (I am posting a link to the work in progress in the sensitive data area). I’d like to make the description a little longer, but basically these pages are exactly what the article you shared says should be Pillar Content.

I guess theoretically I could create a Page that has the same content and that could be listed as Pillar Content, but it seems like the wrong approach.

I hope I was able to clarify the situation and do let me know if you have any new thoughts.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Yes, you are completely right, that way you are doing the content would be pillar content.

Unfortunately, Rank Math right now doesn’t allow those kinds of “pages” to be pillar content, so you would need to create a page to use that function.

Anyway I will submit it as a request for an upcoming feature, since I think it is really important, as you explain.

    Looking forward to help you.

Thanks Alberto, that is really helpful to know and I appreciate you considering this as a feature request.

I really love RankMath and am looking forward to seeing what you will offer in the paid version.

    Best
