Alt Tag Fixed but Still Showing as Errors

I updated all of the alt tags two days ago and have run the SEO Analysis, but they are still showing as errors.

I double checked, and the alt-tags are showing in the media library just fine …but are still considered an error.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Could you please flush your site cache and run the sitewide analysis once again?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Cleared/Purged the cache and ran the analysis again and it is still showing the Alt-tags errors.

Then I actually deleted 2 of the logos files that were unattached and SEO analysis is still showing the files as being there.

    Hi Nancy,

    Apologies for the delay.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    Hi Nancy,
    I’m having the same issue….
Maybe this can help…..found it online

“The media library only changes the media information going forward and does not retroactively edit images added to your current content. That said, the ‘Add Media’ button does have a field for you to enter alt attributes when adding images to your content.”

    Regards

That’s so odd….because it updated most of them with the new alt tags… are you referring to word press or rank math with that quote??

And why would some work and some not work in Rank Math’s System??

    This is the entire article….

Images on this page are missing alt attributes.

    Or

Images on this page do not have alt attributes with words from your keyphrase

    Cause
The code to embed the image onto the page does not contain an image alt tag or the alt tag does not have the focus keyphrase.

    Solution
In short, you must add the alt attribute directly to the image on the post or page.

Log in to your WordPress website.
When you’re logged in, you will be in your ‘Dashboard’.

Open the post or page to edit the content.
Click on the pencil ‘Edit’ icon for the image.
You will see a row of icons where the pencil icon allows you to edit the image details.
    WordPress Edit Image

Add or edit the ‘Alternative Text’ field.
A window will open called ‘Image Details’. Add or edit the ‘Alternative Text’ field so it contains the focus keyphrase.WordPress Edit Image Details in Visual Tab

    Click ‘Update’.
Repeat this for all images on the page.
Alternatively, you can switch to the ‘Text’ tab and manually add or change the alt tag: alt=”ALT_TAG_GOES_HERE”WordPress Edit Image Details in Text Tab

Why Can’t I Change it In The Media Library?
The media library only changes the media information going forward and does not retroactively edit images added to your current content. That said, the ‘Add Media’ button does have a field for you to enter alt attributes when adding images to your content.

    Hi Nancy,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you please elevate the access to an admin, I cannot view the Rank Math options with the current user role.

We are looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi,
    I did find a workaround….
Go to General Settings > Images and there is “Add missing ALT attributes” option.
Set it ON, pick your Alt tag and save.
It worked for me, at least until we’ll figure out what cause the problem in the first place.

    Ciao
