After a user with ordinary permissions submits an article or modifies an article, rank math will not automatically update the sitemap.

Rank Math will automatically update the sitemap after the administrator modifies the article or publishes a new article.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Could you please share the affected sitemap URL so we can also check?

Meanwhile, for initial troubleshooting, please follow these steps (if not yet):

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Let us know how this goes.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

We are not using the caching plugin. cloudflare is also using the default caching policy, without any modifications.

If we are on the rank math configuration page and then click the save button of rank math, the sitemap is updated. If I log in to the backend of the site using the site’s administrator account and then edit the article, the sitemap is also updated immediately.

But general users do not have permission to log into the backend of the site. They can only login to their personal account and browse their own published articles, then there will be a button on the page to prompt the user to edit, if the user edits the article and submits it, the sitemap will not be updated.

    Hello,

If possible, can you please share both the login information of the admin and editor or “ordinary” user so we can replicate the issue?

You may include the login details in the Sensitive Data section.

Looking forward to helping you on this one.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

The sitemap is only automatically updated when I use the backend of the site to modify or publish an article.
I am writing articles on the user interface for publishing articles generated by other plugins, so the sitemap will not be updated.

This may be related to your sitemap update mechanism.

    Hello,

Thank you for your patience as we look into why your sitemap is not updated when posts are published/edited from the frontend.

Yes, it is likely that the frontend-published posts are using method that bypasses Rank Math’s sitemap update functions. To confirm this we need to replicate the issue, we need to check how the frontend publishing is set up in your WordPress admin. Alternatively, you can share the names of the (free) plugins you are using to set up frontend posts on your website so we can replicate the issue on our own setups.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Please head over to your website filesystem and look for the folder: wp-content/uploads/rank-math

If you find any XML files there please clear them all and load the sitemap once again on your browser.

Let us know if that updates the sitemap correctly with all the data.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Yes, after clearing these files, the sitemap has been updated correctly.

How to solve this problem automatically? It may not be a good idea to manually delete these files when there are articles updated.

    Hello,

In this case to solve this issue please add the following filter on your website:

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

After doing that, clear these files just one last time and it should work correctly moving forward.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

Very good! Thanks. The sitemap has been updated properly.
