That only happens if the person upgrading also bought the account via your affiliate referral link and the cookie has not expired.
You don’t get credited with a referral if the initial purchase was not made via your link.
Also, the Content AI and plugin subscriptions are different, so if someone bought credits with your referral link and then bought the subscription this will not get credited to your account as those are independent products and the subscription purchase would need to be purchased with your referral link.
