Hi there, I was wondering where I can add a canonical address on RankMath please to ensure that my pages all go to the same one. I saw the page that is in the advanced features but couldn’t see where. My site https://magicduncan.co.uk could also be https://www.magicduncan.co.uk – can you advise on best practices to ensure this – I have set up a line of code for all 301 redirects.

  • Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

You should be able to edit your canonical in the advanced tab of Rank math meta box. You can ignore the grayed out content, it is the default placeholder. Just click in the field and start typing.

Please note that some options are only available when you enable the Advanced Mode in Rank Math. We give you an option to choose between the two during the setup wizard and you must have chosen to use the Easy Mode.

You can switch to the Advanced Mode from the top-right corner at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard

Here is a screenshot for reference:

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Hiya Michael thanks for this – would I have to do this for every page? Would you recommend I do this for www or non www

    Thanks again

    Hello,

Thank you for the follow up.

You should only add the canonical in the advanced tab for pages that have duplicate content in which case you don’t want them added to sitemap. By default Rank math automatically adds canonical URLs to your pages and posts if they are set to index.

The canonical URL added is usually according to your site settings. If you have a WWW domain or non WWW, the canonical is added accordingly. You can then use .htaccess to redirect all your WWW URLs to non-WWW and vice versa according to your choice.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.

HIya Michael, I am not quite sure I understand if it would be applicable to my site or not https://www.magicduncan.co.uk and https://magicduncan.co.uk Thanks again

    Hello,

Rank math is already adding the canonical URL to your pages so nothing to worry about:

Your site seems to be WWW version and it is already redirecting all non-WWW to your WWW version which is great.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.
