Add short product description to snippets

    Hello,

For some products my website uses two descriptions. However, the main description for my product is the short product description. The snippets that have filled in both are taking the long description, which I use to add extra info, since they are located in my product tabs below my additional product information.

I am using Woocommerce product snippets with the free version, so I cannot edit it. I tried using the product schema, but it pulls way less info compared to the default woocommerce schema, plus my brand is not picked up by Google structured data testing tool. I just get the warning saying I need to add it.

    Example link:

    https://www.dazzlinghypnotic.com/colourful-jewellery/colourful-earrings/colourful-hoop-earrings/haze-hoop-earrings/

This is also affecting the info I share online, for example, when I pin a product on Pinterest it also uses this description instead of the short product description.

  • Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

Since you are using Product schema on your pages, please ensure the Schema title shows %seo_title% and the description should show %seo_description% – this will ensure your SEO title and SEO Description that you set up via Rank Math can also be used for your schema details.

If you test your URL here: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results, the brand name is shown as expected, here is a screenshot: https://i.rankmath.com/gOLTQs

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

I think you might not have understood me correctly.

I am using woocommerce product schema and I want to continue using it. I’ve tested the product schema and it provides half of the information the woocommerce schema provides to Google, which is why I dont want to use it.

My problem is the description, the woocommerce product schema does not take short product description as default, but takes the long description. This in my case is not a product description, but extra info to my product like product care instructions.

So, how do I make the short product description defaul for all my woocommerce product schema?

I have tried editing Title and Metas for my products by adding the schortcode to short product description instead of excerpt, but I guess that’s not related because nothing changed.

*Regarding the brand comment, it does appear because I am using the woocommerce product schema. Once I switch to product schema it is gone, no matter if I type it or use the brand and organization shortcodes. It is missing and I get a warning.
