Add missing title problem

I wanted to let you know about a problem that enabling the “Add missing title attributes” causes. When I had this toggled to “on,”, and used *|RSSITEM:CONTENT|* in my Mailchimp campaign, the post title under the image started with “title=”

When I toggled this option to off the problem disappeared.

A post about this problem in the support for the Featured Images for RSS Plugin said this:
This is what I see in your raw feed:

There is a rouge “/” before the title= that is causing Mailchimp to end the IMG early, and display it as text.

There’s also a lot more validation errors I’m seeing, but those probably aren’t related to this issue.

I’ve had reports that it is Rank Math SEO’s Image SEO options that are causing this, specifically the Image Title SEO option I believe.

Please test by disabling Image SEO and see if that solves the issue?

So, I have turned it off but wanted to report the problem to you. Thanks!

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for the delay and for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Could you please share the affected URL to further check this issue? Also, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

Thank you, and we really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

I’m sorry I didn’t respond to this, just submitted website info, was not sure what “FTP” means so didn’t submit anything for that!

The example I posted in my initial post (the coffee one) was from another person’s post, I just used it because it was faster than posting the similar code from my site.

    Thanks,
    Karen

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. Using the FTP account, you can directly access the backend of the website, where the actual website and plugin files are kept. You can ask your Hosting Provider for your website’s FTP logins. We ask the FTP logins only to check if the plugin files are working correctly.

However, could you please also provide the URL of your website and some of the affected pages, so that we can further investigate the issue?

Really looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

I tried to send a picture with an example of what was happening when I used the |RSSITEM:CONTENT|* line in my Mailchimp email. The “title=…” text is populating from the *|RSSITEM:CONTENT|* line in my Mailchimp email right under the image.

How can I attach or send you the picture?

The problem stopped happening when I turned off the toggling for “Add missing title attributes” in my Rankmath Image Settings.

I would like to keep that turned off right now as I will have another automated email going out soon.

    I hope this helps!
    Karen

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

In case you want to share a screenshot please use this platform https://imgbb.com/ to achieve that. Also, use loom.com to record a screencast.

Just tried to check where this issue is occurring and was not able to replicate it. The add missing title/alt tags should happen within a WordPress page content, once it loads.

Please clarify which page faces this issue.

We are looking forward to helping you.
    Thank you.

    Hi Brian,

I uploaded an image showing you what was happening *before* I turned off “add missing title attributes.”

Just to clarify, the issue is no longer happening now that I have that toggled off.

This is what happened when I used the |RSSITEM:CONTENT|* line in my Mailchimp email. The “title=…” text is populating from the *|RSSITEM:CONTENT|* line in my Mailchimp email right under the image.

one additional note: I have an automated email going out tomorrow morning so please don’t change the toggle for “add missing title attributes” or the problem will reoccur. Thanks!

That is totally fine, I’m really not having a problem now that I know how to prevent it from happening by toggling the “add missing title attributes” off.

I just wanted you to know about it so you could help other people encountering the same issue.

    Thanks,
