The guide is about how to change the canonical URLs. My question is how to set the canonical URLs automatically. I thought the canonical URL was the page/post URL by default, but when I checked the code, there was no canonical URL.

Meanwhile, please note that Rank Math automatically adds a self-referencing canonical URLs to your posts/pages that are set to index.

Do you mean Rank Math only automatically sets canonical URLs for the posts or pages that are set to index? If so, I think I find the reason. My website is set to noindex currently since we are still working on it.

Yes, if your URLs are not set to index, Rank Math does not add the canonical.
