    Hello,

I am facing a problem, Please help!

The XML Sitemap is showing 504 Gateway Time out Nginx.
    https://holooly.com/sitemap_index.xml

I have set the number of links per site map to 2,500 links.
I have around 350,000 Posts on this website.
When i try to load the sitemap multiple times, my RAM & CPU get consumed immediately.

I have troubleshooted it using this guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-sitemap-issues/
    But with no luck.

I hope this is enough information. If no I will be happy to answer any question.
    Please help me ASAP.

Note: I do not have the permission to give access to this site. yet if needed i can give access to the terminal where you can see the nginx config.

    Thanks in advance!
    Amir S.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the inconvenience you are facing with your XML Sitemap showing a 504 Gateway Time-out error on Nginx. We understand the frustration this may cause, especially with the large number of posts on your website.

Based on the information you’ve provided, it seems that the issue is related to the large number of posts on your website, which is causing high resource consumption when loading the sitemap.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Increase Server Resources: Given the large number of posts on your website, it’s possible that your current hosting package isn’t providing enough resources to keep it running smoothly. You can navigate to Tools → Site Health → Info from your WordPress dashboard to check the server requirements and compare them with your current values. If your values are lower, you should contact your web host to increase them or upgrade your site to a higher hosting plan.

    2. Optimize Sitemap: You can also try optimizing the sitemap by reducing the number of links per sitemap. Since you have set the number of links per sitemap to 2,500, you might want to consider reducing this number to lessen the resource consumption.

If you’ve already tried these steps and are still facing issues, please open a new ticket here so our staff can assist you further.

We hope these suggestions help resolve the issue. Thank you for reaching out to us, and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this matter for you.

    Best regards.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to this issue.

Given the number of posts on your site (350,000), it might be a good idea to consider increasing the server capacity. Initially, you should ensure the PHP server values are at least the following values:

    PHP Memory Limit: 1024M
    Max input time: 300
    PHP time limit: 240
    PHP max input variables: 1000

You can see what values are currently on your site here: WordPress Dashboard > Tools > Site Health > Info tab > Server. You can contact your host provider to increase them if they are less.

If the above doesn’t work you can try reducing the links per sitemap to say 1000.

Let us know how this goes. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

I have set the values as you said and even more.. I have set them to the following:

    PHP Memory Limit: 4096M
    Max input time: 300
    PHP time limit: 240
    PHP max input variables: 1000

But that was not the issue.

The number of link per sitemap is not the issue as well, because the following sitemap, has only 15 links in it, yet it is still giving the time out error.

The sitemap that has 15 link: https://holooly.com/support-sitemap.xml

    Hello,

Can you please try disabling the insertion of images in your sitemap? See if that will help. You can do that in Rank Math > Sitemap Settings > General.

If the issue persists, then Rank Math doesn’t have enough server resources to load the sitemap.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,
