  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with the 404 monitor in Rank Math. It seems like you have a large number of 404 errors in your monitor, and when you try to view them, you are redirected to a “Page Not Found” error page.

To address this problem, you can follow these steps:

    1. Clear the 404 Monitor Log: You can clear the log of 404 errors that are currently being displayed. To do this, go to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Rank Math SEO → General Settings → 404 Monitor, and click on Clear Log as shown in the screenshot below:

Click Clear Log to clear 404 Monitor log

    1. Enable Advanced 404 Monitor: If you are still experiencing issues after clearing the log, you can enable the Advanced 404 Monitor to capture more details about the errors. This can help you identify the source of the errors better. To enable the Advanced 404 Monitor, follow the steps outlined in this guide: How to Find Out Where 404 Errors Are Coming From.

If you continue to experience difficulties or need further assistance, please feel free to reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you promptly.

After clearing these things, it comes again. What to do then?

    Hello,

Please note that we only report them, and we do not have information on how or why they are generated.

You can get further insight into them by enabling the advanced monitor at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/monitor-404-errors/#advanced-404-monitor

That will give you more information like referrer and user-agent. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors.

You can also add them to the exclusion list at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor > Exclude Paths.

Moreover, if you are seeing random 404s that you know for a fact are incorrect – it is likely generated by a bot and can be safely ignored. You could also use a service like Cloudflare to block out access to bots so they do not use up your server resources.
