404 Errors

    I keep getting 404 errors that return URI’s that I do not understand and are as follows;

    URI referer
    ‘config/database.yml’ ‘https://pcnebula.com/config/database.yml’
    ‘wp-content/themes/focus-pro/images/PC_Neb_H2.png’ https://pcnebula.com/

    user agent
    Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; InfoPath.2)IE 8.0

    I can see that they are file paths to the folders and files that are on my webserver

    ‘pcnebula.com’ is my website, I have lots of these with similar URI, what do they all mean, am I under attack?
    I would attach a screenshot to show but that facility is not available.

    These may not necessary mean that you are under attack, these kind of errors indicate the interaction of search bots with your site resources which may not be available. If these are not too many, you can simply ignore them. If there are several of this, you can enable the redirection module and redirect them to your homepage.

    In case that you are worried about an attack, you can have your host check the server error logs for more info on the kind of users that made the hits.
