    Rank Math free

Hello. I have several sites in one hoster Amen.pt in Portugal. I installed rankmath for 2 of my sites and fullfilled the keywords for all the pages, ect. The day after, I entered to WordPress, but understood, that I dont have access to the sections of the dashboard, such as: articles, pages; plugins; settings; ect. The site is working, but I have no more access to make some changes on wordpress. When I try to enter a section on wordpress dashboard Settings-Permlinks he message appears:

    403 Forbidden
Access is forbidden to the requested page:
    especialistasdolar.pt/wp-admin/options-permalink.php (port 443)

    or, for example, pages:

    403 Forbidden
Access is forbidden to the requested page:
    especialistasdolar.pt/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page (port 443)

The same with plugins, multimedia…each section.

I followed your instructions on support page, trying to resolve it from cpanel, but didnt work.

    Help, please.

Here are 2 sites I put this plugin:
    https://especialistasdolar.pt/
    https://vmc-casaprotect.pt/

But I have several sites on Amen.pt provider, that dont work the same way anymore.

    Kind Regards,

    Liliia Medeiros

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Usually, 403 errors are permission issues with your current firewall or security plugin that you have installed on your website.

Please check if your website has the ModSecurity feature enabled. If so, you can disable the ModSecurity and check if the issue still persists on your site. If it does, this suggests that the rules that have been set are blocking the requests from our plugin.

In this case, you can get in touch with your web host to get rid of the issue.

Hello, I receveid a message from my hosting provider in Portugal that Rank Math plugin causes problems in all my account . Here is a answer:
“Following the reported difficulty, we would like to alert you to the potential existence of malware in your hosting, possibly originating from the plugin in question, which is causing you to block access to your administrative areas (due to corrupt .htaccess files).

Aware of the fact that the publication of these files is free and of your responsibility, we advise you to check them and correct any flaws that allow the misuse of your site, as well as change the FTP access passwords using alphanumeric characters, capital letters and special characters.

I verify that most of the websites installed on your Linux hosting are based on the opensource application WordPress. This application has public knowledge code and many of the components and plugins may contain malware and evil scripts if not downloaded from reliable sources.

You should always keep the WordPress version up to date and check with the community of users of this application how to protect yourself against possible vulnerabilities.”

    Hello,

If downloaded from the WordPress repository or our website, Rank Math would not contain any malware.

If it is present, it might have arisen from any other files on your server or from where you downloaded the plugin.

Please login to your website via FTP/cPanel and delete the seo-by-rank-math folder under wp-content/plugins/. Then take a backup of your .htaccess file and replace it with the default WordPress .htaccess file. You can get the file contents here: https://wordpress.org/support/article/htaccess/

Here’s a guide that you can follow to edit the .htaccess file:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/edit-htaccess/

Then, install Rank Math again following this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/installing-through-the-admin-panel/

All your settings and optimizations would remain safe when deleting the plugin.

Once done, see if the issue is fixed.

Let us know how that goes.

The plugin was downloaded directly from WordPress. Ok, I will check this method, thank you.

    Hello,

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Thanks.

    Hello, it didn’t work.

I am actually not an IT specialist, I just know how to create a site on wordpress with plugins. I followed your instructure, Prabhat. I changed .htaccess file in publis html in file manager cpanel with this code, Basic Wp:

    # BEGIN WordPress

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule .* – [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}]
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

    # END WordPress

I have 4 sites in my hosting. Have I do right? Or I should enter .htaccess of each site’s file?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

You will have to change the .htaccess file of each site. Once you are able to access the backend, please use a security plugin like WordFence to scan your whole site for malware.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks.

I have just succeed to restore each site completely in backup manager, it works! I liked your plugin, its really better that Yoast, but I am scared to install it again, because it would give the same problem and as I am not an IT specialist, just a site designer, a little bit worry to loose all the sites that I have and cause worse problems:( I took RankMath from WordPress directly, I never use unknown methods, but probably it doesn’t work with my Portuguese provider Amen.pt (It’s the hugest in Portugal).

    Thank you

    Hello,

Our plugin doesn’t add any rules in the .htaccess file. If the issue was due to the .htaccess entries then it must have been due to malware or some other plugin. You can install the plugin again on one of your sites and if the issue occurs again only on that site, let us know and we will investigate this further.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks.
