Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
You don’t need to use that code to disable the sitemaps, Rank Math takes care of it by itself.
I have also seen you are using Nginx, have you tried adding this code in the Nginx configuration file?
# START Nginx Rewrites for Rank Math Sitemaps
rewrite ^/sitemap_index.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=1 last;
rewrite ^/([^/]+?)-sitemap([0-9]+)?.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=$1&sitemap_n=$2 last;
# END Nginx Rewrites for Rank Math Sitemaps
Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
Here is my other wordpress site on this same server. You can see that all sitemap created using Rankmath is working properly in this case-
https://lifetimo.com/sitemap_index.xml
I found the solution by reading other similar support threads. Actually, this option “under Category Archives Robots Meta” was enabled – somehow- https://d.pr/i/Qt8ddZ
I am not sure how. I don’t remember enabling it myself. Was this default option?
Anyways, it’s working now. I am able to visit https://tomatoheart.com/category-sitemap.xml properly.
BY the way, I just checked.. it’s not working again. Seems like you guys are working in the backend. 🙂
No worries. Take your time and resolve the issue.
Thanks.

Hey Alberto,
As you can see that primary sitemap and other two sitemaps are already working –
https://tomatoheart.com/sitemap_index.xml
https://tomatoheart.com/post-sitemap.xml
https://tomatoheart.com/page-sitemap.xml
But it’s only the category-sitemap, which is not working
https://tomatoheart.com/category-sitemap.xml
So, I don’t think adding the above code can help me with this. As per the tutorials, I should be adding that config code only if the sitemap is not working at all.
Also, I am actually using Gridpane to manage my servers and sites and it already has included all the needed config file to make it work.
I also have other WordPress sites on this same server with nginx and I installed RankMath without any issue with sitemap.
You can also read about this here – https://gridpane.com/kb/rank-math-yoast-and-gridpane/
If you still feel I should include this conig file to nginx, let me know I will do that.
Else, please look into it.
Thanks.
Hello,
About your category sitemap not working, have you added any categories on your website that has:
1. Posts that are indexable, and
2. The category archives themselves are indexable.
If both are them are true, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/
We really look forward to helping you.
This issue is getting more weird.
Now, none of the sitemap works properly. Every time I refresh my wordpress admin, all sitemap starts working for a while and then after 1-2 minutes, it stops working and show 404 error. Now, when I refresh the WordPress admin, the sitemap again starts working.
This is really very very weird. Kindly see yourself through this screen record – https://d.pr/v/6rtaCB
Kindly check and help me resolve this.
Thanks.
Hello Uzair,
I had already shared my login credentials but since I marked this post as resolved. So, it may have disappeared now.
Currently, there is no option to share the sesitive data with you. So, kindly mark this post as ‘Unresolved’ so that I can get the option to share the credentials.
Or you can visit this thread – https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/parsererror-while-using-remove-rank-math-transients/ ( here I have already shared the login credentials )
Now, regarding category sitemap – https://tomatoheart.com/category-sitemap.xml
This site is two years old and hence there are dozens of categories with dozens of post. So, it was previously working. Even now, approx. 1 hour ago, the category sitemap started working.
I still have the screenshot. Have a look – https://d.pr/i/lI0kKK
But it again stopped working. I thought you guys are working in the backend and hence it was working.
But now, after reading your above reply, it appears that you have no idea about any of this and you were not working on my site.
Anyways, kindly look into this and resolve this.
Thanks.
Hello,
The issue is usually caused by caching on your site. With most caching plugins there is usually an option to exclude pages/URLs from caching but it seems FlyingPress doesn’t have the feature yet…you may have to contact their support to help you exclude your sitemap URLs from being cached or use a different caching plugin.
Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
I understand. Let me talk to the plugin team
