It looks like the sitemap file was being cached by Hummingbird plugin.
I have added the sitemap file to the exclusion list and the validation passes now.
You might want to check again with GSC.

But what if the pages of the site grow well, the pagination goes page by page, just add a constantly new file to the exception?

Or maybe somehow you can specify for all, for example: post – *.xml

Adding an exception for the sitemap_index should be sufficient or you can add all .xml files to the exclusion list.
