Hi instead of just set thumbnail for custom post type, I also set thumbnail at General tab. Somehow the preview appearing fine now on FB

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

I have the same problem. My visitors are reporting that Facebook (mostly) and Twitter are not showing featured images (thumbnails).
