og:title meta tag malformed

    The og:title meta tag is slightly malformed, and LinkedIn is not accepting it as their default title in their postings. I imagine other OpenGraph feeders will be equally confused.

    The og:title meta tag that RankMath produces is:
    <meta property=”og:title” content=”My Custom Title”>

    RankMath *should* be generating the meta tag with the name=”title” attribute:
    <meta name=”title” property=”og:title” content=”My Custom Title”>

    RankMath’s generated meta tag is missing its essential name (all good meta tags need a name). LinkedIn states (correctly) that it’s specifically looking for a properly formed meta tag:

    From LinkedIn’s Post Inspector: https://www.linkedin.com/post-inspector/ :
    How to change the title
    Provide a metadata tag for the og:title in the page’s head section. For example:
    <meta name=”title” property=”og:title” content=”[Content title here]”>

    It would be super awesome for all your users if you could adapt RankMath to include the meta name attribute.

    Thanks, and happy new year!

    Hi Cameron,

    Thanks for the getting in touch with us today and happy new to you too!

    We really appreciate this suggestion and I have submitted it to our dev team for closer investigation.

    We will be getting back to you in a short while. Thank you.

    Hello,

    The name property in meta tags is not needed. Linkedin and other social networking sites only requires property and value. You can read more about it here: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/46687/making-your-website-shareable-on-linkedin?lang=en

    Please add the page URL in the Sensitive Data Section where Linkedin is not accepting the title and description added in the og tags.

    Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    that is not correct. LinkedIn EXPLICITLY demands the tag have the name=”title”, OR IT DOES NOT GET PICKED UP!

    Hi Cameron,

    That is not correct.

    Please check this blog post from our website:
    https://rankmath.com/blog/power-words/

    I just checked it on the LinkedIn debug tool:

    null

    Or you can check this URL where the og:title is different than the post title but still gets picked up correct by LinkedIn

    https://mythemeshop.com/themes/digital/

    If it isn’t working for you, it could be due to something else and we will love to take a look for you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    We really appreciate your feedback.

    I have shared that with the dev. team.

    Please note that there is no mention of using the name tag on https://ogp.me/ website.

    Ironically, LinkedIn itself doesn’t use the name tag in their OpenGraph tags:

    view-source:https://engineering.linkedin.com/blog/2018/06/post-inspector--a-tool-to-optimize-content-sharing

    null

    They don’t mention using that on their post either:

    https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/46687/making-your-website-shareable-on-linkedin?lang=en

    We will still discuss this internally and see if it makes sense to do this.
