Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.
Normally, if you change your permalinks, no need to set up a redirect from your current (tag and name) to post name permalink as all your posts will automatically strip those tags and names in the URL and redirect.
Here’s a screencast for your reference:

I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance.
Hey, thank you for your feedback. I tried that, but was directed to a 404 page. so it doesn’t seem to work correctly that way. in other support tickets (https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/change-in-permalink-settings/) of this type something had to be set under “redirects” ??
After all, the main point is that my existing links are also redirected if they were linked by others. So what do I need to set in my case?
Hello,
Thanks for getting back.
Please navigate to WP Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Redirections and enable the Auto Post Redirect option.

This will redirect links with the old permalink structure to the new one.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any further assistance.
Hey,
thanks a lot for your feedback.
I probably didn’t express myself accurately. The setting you mentioned only affects redirects that involve changes to the slug.
However, I meant permanent redirects when the permalink structure changes.
I am concerned here with properly setting up a regex 301 redirect, as in the example post above. How would I need to set this up in my case?
Thank you guys very much.

Hello,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Since you have the full date (year/month/day), you need to set up the redirection as regex like so:
Source URLs: /([0-9]{4})/([0-9]{2})/([0-9]{2})/(.+)
Destination URL: /$4
And here’s the screenshot of the redirection settings:

Hope this helps solve your issue.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you require any further assistance.
Hey,
perfect. Thank you very much :-).
