After recently installing the Rank Math SEO plugin, I found that the 404 Monitor is not recording any 404s.
I read through the previous support tickets on this issue, and checked that it was not anything simple, such as not setting Redirections > Fallback Behavior to “Default 404” (which is what I have set it to).
What I think might be the issue is the fact that in my WordPress theme Thesis, there is an option to set a custom page that is shown on a 404, and in another support ticket, it was stated that using such a custom 404 page would prevent the 404 Monitor from working.
So to address this, I deselected the custom 404 page that was set in my Thesis theme. But alas, 404s were still not being recorded in the 404 Monitor.
I previously used a plugin called Redirection, which does successfully record 404s on my site. I just don’t seem to be able to get the Rank Math 404 Monitor working. Of course I deactivated Redirection in order to use Rank Math SEO.
Any advice or suggests would be much appreciated.
