x-robots-tag: noindex

#1094638
  • Hello,

I’m writing to you because I’m experiencing a persistent issue with my website’s sitemap and the Rank Math plugin.

I have already verified and tested the following:

I am using the Google Search Console to check my sitemap at https://adadentpolicka.cz/sitemap_index.xml.

When Rank Math is deactivated, the sitemap is successfully recognized and processed by Google Search Console.

However, when Rank Math is activated, Google Search Console reports a fetch error and shows the following HTTP header in its inspection tool:

    X-Robots-Tag: noindex

I have checked all relevant settings in Rank Math and have confirmed that indexing is allowed everywhere on my site. The issue appears to be directly caused by the Rank Math plugin, which is adding the X-Robots-Tag: noindex header to my sitemap, preventing it from being indexed by Google.

Could you please provide a solution for this, as I need to use the Rank Math plugin for my site’s SEO?

    Thank you for your help.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your website’s sitemap and the Rank Math plugin. Thank you for providing detailed information about the problem.

The X-Robots-Tag: noindex header being added to your sitemap is likely due to a configuration issue. Here are a few steps you can take to resolve this:

    1. Check Your Settings: Ensure that you have not accidentally set your sitemap or any of its contents to noindex. You can do this by going to Rank Math > Sitemap Settings and ensuring that all relevant options are set to allow indexing.

    2. Exclude Sitemap from Caching: If you are using any caching plugins, make sure to exclude your sitemap from being cached. Caching can sometimes cause issues with how headers are sent. You can refer to our tutorial on excluding sitemaps from caching for guidance.

    3. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins may conflict with Rank Math. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify if there are any conflicts.

    4. Custom Code: If you have added any custom code to your theme or site that might be affecting headers, please review that as well.

    5. Server Configuration: In some cases, server-level configurations might add headers. If you have access to your server settings, check if there are any rules that might be adding the noindex tag.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, we recommend replying to this ticket with any additional details or changes you’ve made, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this issue for you soon!
