Wrong description and title google – 2 questions

Previously I used Jetpack for SEO. A very basic concept that got me into the top 3. Since I wanted to improve this, I came up with Rank Math.

Now I have activated the plugin and deactivated jetpack for the SEO.

Within a short time I am no longer on the first page and my Google title and description are not correct with what I wrote in the rankmath plugin.

Could you please give me more clarity as to whether this will change or whether I have set something incorrectly?

Here are 2 screenshots with information: https://prnt.sc/Gh4vGjvLWk04 and https://prnt.sc/yuevVJti58xP

In addition, I have another question. On my homepage there is a long text behind the link. Is it possible to remove that? See this screenshot for what i mean: https://prnt.sc/EKMeKxYStm4X

I would like to report that the plugin works very well and if you continue to like it, I will switch to the pro version. Even more options to improve my site!

  • Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

It is a pretty common thing with Google these days. It happens with 70% of the results and we even have a KB dedicated to this problem and a few solutions we recommend:

    https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

Please check the KB and you will understand the reasons Google does this.

Google has made some changes to their algorithm which automatically changes the titles, discarding the one you have set in your SEO title meta tag. This happens regardless of the SEO plugin you are using. We have covered this Google update here:

    https://rankmath.com/google-update/google-title-rewrite-update/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

First thanks for the fast reply!

I had already looked at these things before my post. Is it an idea to give Google more time to review my website or does that not matter?

    Hello,

You can check the status of your URLs of when Google last crawled them in your Google Search Console.

Moreover, the best you can do is optimize your meta title and description to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.
