Wrong canonical url

Hey,

I’ve started using WPML on my website. English is the original language, and French the translated into one. On the home page in French, the URL is https://kitesurflasterrenas.com/?lang=fr but the rel=”canonical” points to https://kitesurflasterrenas.com/?lang=fr/ this last URL redirects to https://kitesurflasterrenas.com/?lang=fr%2F which shows the page in English.

The correct URL is https://kitesurflasterrenas.com/?lang=fr I have no idea where the two others come from. No other pages are affected, how do I fix this?

Hi Julie,

The issue is caused by the last backslash at the end of for example https://kitesurflasterrenas.com/?lang=fr/

We are not very sure where it might be coming from but could you make sure the site and wordpress addresses in settings \ general do not have this at the end.

If that does not help please let us know and we will get this looked at.

Hello,
The permalink structure is set as: /%postname%/
I’ve changed the translated URL structures from /?lang=fr to /fr/ and now the canonical URL is correct.
