The URLs of your main language don’t have trailing slashes. Please use the same structure for the URLs on the main site and translated sites to avoid the canonical URL issue.
For the sitemap, your sitemap is returning a 404 error. Please follow these steps:
1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp
2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

I am unable to edit the permlink of the homepage but I’ve inserted a code in the htaccess file to strip all trailing slashes. I’ll update if the canonical issue is resolved 🙂

The sitemap is still not working and returning a 404 error:
Please try flushing the cache again by following the steps mentioned in my previous reply and if the issue persists then please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

Yes, your sitemap is working fine now. However, to include the translated URLs in the sitemap you will have to use the SEO Pack Add-On of TranslatePress. The URLs will be added to the sitemap as soon as you install the add-on. https://translatepress.com/multilingual-sitemap-wordpress-site/
Also, please make sure to exclude your sitemap from caching otherwise it will keep returning a 404 error from time to time. https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/
