  • Hello,

    We apologize for the issue you are facing with the sitemap URLs not being generated correctly by Rank Math. It seems that your site is still referencing the default WordPress sitemaps (wp-sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml). To resolve this issue and ensure that only the Rank Math sitemap is used, you can follow these steps:

    1. Disable WordPress Default Sitemaps: You can disable the default WordPress sitemaps by adding the following code to your theme’s functions.php file:

      add_filter( 'wp_sitemaps_enabled', '__return_false' );

      This will prevent WordPress from generating its own sitemaps.

    2. Ensure Rank Math Sitemap is Enabled: Make sure that the Rank Math Sitemap module is enabled. You can check this by going to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings and ensuring that the sitemap feature is active.

    3. Update Your Posts: After making these changes, you may need to update your posts to ensure they reference the correct sitemap generated by Rank Math.

    4. Clear Cache: If you are using a caching plugin, clear your cache to ensure that the changes take effect.

    5. Check for Indexing: After implementing these changes, check if your posts are now being indexed correctly by Google.

    If you continue to experience issues or if you would like a more comprehensive setup, we recommend considering our professional setup service, which ensures your plugin is configured correctly according to the latest SEO standards. You can find more information about this service at Rank Math Services.

    Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope this helps resolve your issue!

    How to Exclude Content From Sitemap » Rank Math

    Hello,

    Could you please confirm if you are referring to the URLs discovered by your sitemap in Google Search Console? If so, please note that Google only displays the source from which a URL was initially discovered.

    Even if the sitemap changes after Google has already discovered the URL, it will not update the discovery source. This is not an issue, as the URL has already been recognized by Google.

    You can safely ignore this notice. It will not affect your SEO, and your pages should continue to be indexed properly.

    If we have missed any details, please share a screenshot or additional information so we can assist you better.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Thankyou yes I was referring to GSC. Nothing to worry about then. Many thanks, I understand now.
