WP Bakery Buider – Admin Ajax CPU Usage when editing elements

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the plugin, it comes with a lot of useful settings and integrations !

    Wordpress : v5.8.1
    Theme : Impreza v8.2.1
    Rank Math : v1.0.73

    I am facing a problem since some months now :
    – When editing a Carousel or Grid element (multiple elements inside like images or posts), the website becomes extremely slowly or offline. When looking @CPU Usage, it goes on to 100% before gradually getting down to normal values.
    – I looked at Plesk logs when I do press the edit button on the particular elements and it appears that “Access” to “POST /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php HTTP/2.0” are multiplied (like a lot of instances are created).
    – After all those access are logged, we got multiples errors : “504 on Admin-Ajax.php” and “737946#0: *182740 upstream timed out (110: Connection timed out) while reading response header from upstream”
    – Inbetween, the element editor is still loading and the website is offline/extremely slow.

    When I do deactivate Rank Math, the problem disappears.

    Things I tried :
    – Raising MAX MEMORY to 256M
    – Disabling Rank Math’s Analytics and Link Suggestions (those grids seems to create a lot of internal links for Rank Math)
    – Reduce Heartbeat activity in Backend.

    Have you ever faced this kind of problem ? How could we solve this ?

    Could you please check if your website PHP values are not too low? Please get in touch with your hosting provider and ask them to set the following values. 

    PHP Memory Limit: 512M
Max input time: 150
PHP time limit: 120
PHP max input variables: 1000

    Once done, please see if the issue is fixed.

    If the issue persists, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    Hi there,

    I already got the values set higher than default.
    It is not throwing errors anymore, but it does several access to “admin-ajax.php”, a lot more than without Rank Math.
    This leads to a slow website, nearly offline during a whole minute when editing a carousel or grid element on WP Bakery. This is a big issue.

    The PHP Values are still low:
    low

    Please set the following values:

    PHP Memory Limit: 512M
Max input time: 150

    Once done, clear the website cache and check again.

    I got some websites on my server, if I put all of these to 512M, won’t this cause issues to performances ?
    When I do edit the carousel without Rank Math it takes about 10sec to show up. When Rank Math is on, it takes up to more than a minute and it gets my website offline.

    It wouldn’t cause any performance issues with your other website as you are giving more hardware resources to all of your websites.

    When I do edit the carousel without Rank Math it takes about 10sec to show up. When Rank Math is on, it takes up to more than a minute and it gets my website offline.

    Please try increasing the PHP values and let us know if that resolves the issue.

    If the issue persists, let us know and we will further investigate it.

    Hello,

    Are you running multiple websites on the same server? If that’s the case all the resources need to be shared across multiple installations and you might be exhausting the resources faster than expected.

    You could try to replicate this website on a single server on its own and with the minimum server variables, we mentioned before to see if the issue persists.

    In case this does help mitigate the situation then we can safely assume that the number of websites running on the same server is just too big to accommodate all this functionality at once.
