Yes the exact same is happening to us too. I received a notification from Rank Math on Facebook stating that Rank Math is fully compatible with WordPress 5.5. and it must be a plugin conflict… Well, I’ve deactivated all plugins except Rank Math and it’s still not showing so, Rank Math – please do something!
Ok I’ve heard back from Support and they say it’s to do with the theme you’re using. I can confirm that switching back to Twenty Twenty theme, I am now able to see the Rank Math setting button when creating posts and pages.
Try that and let us know how you get on.
I am having the same issue, but I don’t think it’s realistic for RankMath to not function properly with any theme but Twenty Twenty. Anyone with me on this?
Oh I wasn’t saying it will ONLY work with Twenty Twenty theme, I was saying that it’s to do with your current theme. I’m sure there are plenty of other theme it will work with. Just going by what they’ve told me, don’t shoot the messenger! 😛
🙂 Sorry if that was too aggressive. Judging by this thread, it appears to be a larger problem. It’s not realistic for me to switch my site theme. It would be far easier to migrate to SEOPress.

Our old theme was too long in the tooth, so we are actually in the middle of switching to Elementor which is lucky I suppose. But you’re right, switching themes isn’t realistic and an absolute headache!

I just talked to tech support of my host for another issue, and also asked about this one as I had a good guy on the phone. He said it is a line of code that has been fixed in the Beta version of Rank Math, but not yet in the standard version. Hope we will see an update soon. 😉
By the way, I just checked your comment about the theme… it is correct that in the trouble shooting mode with Twenty Twenty, the issue does not appear. But even with my theme in use – where the issue appears – it does not appear with trouble shooting activeated. :O
Oh I didn’t use any troubleshooting mode or anything extra. I simply activated the Twenty Twenty theme (therefore deactivating current theme) and it seemed to work for me.
I haven’t tried any troubleshooting mode but then again, I’m not too worried about this as we are currently switching over to Elementor and it works with that.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins, themes and WordPress (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using (we have seen a lot of plugins and themes are broken with this latest WordPress version and meanwhile Rank Math is compatible, others could be breaking it).
A good way to find those incompatible plugins/themes (to report them to their dev teams) is using this troubleshooting guide:

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.
