WooCommerce Schema

    I have some questions regarding WooCommerce Product schema.

    Firstly, I’m unable to set custom brand under the WooCommerce tab in RankMath’s General Setting. So I’m wondering if it’s alright to leave it blank as it is? Under the drop-down, there are only None, Product Type, Product Visibility, Product Categories & Product Tags. There’s no “Custom” as shown in this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/woocommerce-custom-brand-schema/

    Secondly, Google Search Console pointed out some product issues i.e. missing field “priceValidUntil”, “brand”, “review”, “aggregate rating” & no global identifier provided. Under the Schema Generator for WooCommerce schema, there are no options to edit those fields. Is it alright if I ignore the warnings from Search Console or should I use the Product schema instead & manually fill in the details for each field?

    Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    I’m unable to set custom brand under the WooCommerce tab in RankMath’s General Setting.

    You can set the “Custom” brand only in the Rank Math PRO version. Since you’re in the free version, this option will not be available.

    To fix the brand warning, head over to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > WooCommerce and choose from any of the available fields to use as your product’s brands.

    Brand Value

    If you want to use a custom value for your Brands, you can do that by using the following code in your theme’s functions.php file:

    // Add Brand for Products.
    add_filter( 'rank_math/snippet/rich_snippet_product_entity', function( $entity ) {
    $entity['brand'] = 'Rank Math';
    return $entity;
    });

    Replace the “Rank Math” text with your actual brand name then run your website through the Structured Data Testing tool once again.

    Google Search Console pointed out some product issues i.e. missing field “priceValidUntil”, “brand”, “review”, “aggregate rating” & no global identifier provided. Under the Schema Generator for WooCommerce schema, there are no options to edit those fields. Is it alright if I ignore the warnings from Search Console or should I use the Product schema instead & manually fill in the details for each field?

    Rank Math takes the schema data from your product pages automatically and turns it into Schema-ready content. Likewise, the aggregateRating and review fields are taken from your actual product reviews that your buyers/customers leave on your products.

    If you don’t have any reviews yet, that is going to show up as a warning in the schema testing tool. That’s because Google will actually look for those fields.

    Please acquire some reviews and ratings to get rid of the aggregateRating and review warnings.

    Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you

    Hi Anjana, thanks for the guide!

    So generally it’s alright to ignore those warnings from Google Search Console?

    Hello,

    That is partially correct. For example, if there really isn’t a review for the product there won’t be anything to display.

    However, Google encourages eCommerce sites to use all possible product markups, as it can increase the click-through rate, which is why you are seeing those warnings.

    I’d recommend encouraging your customers to add reviews so the warnings no longer appear.

    That said, please do note that warnings are okay and optional, but you need to be careful about the errors(the ones in red color)

    We hope that helps. We are here if you need us again.

    Thank you.
