Why my Emojis Are Not Displaying in my SEO Meta?

    Rank Math free

I put the meta description with emojis, save the post and when I open the post editing page again I see that the emojis have disappeared from the SEO meta description.

I tried all these steps below suggested in this link (https://rankmath.com/kb/using-emojis-in-meta-tags/) and still it didn’t work.

I’ve already checked for plugin conflicts as suggested in the link above and disabled everything (plugins and themes), I only activated rank math and the problem still persists. My SEO goal is also not very large and the database is also configured with utf8mb4.

The text I’m using to put in the SEO goal is this:

✅Finally! The list of the Best Cars of 2025 is out! 🤯 13 perfect options for EVERY driver profile. Everything tested. See here ⬆

But after saving the post and refreshing the page, the emojis disappear and all that’s left is this:

Finally! The list of the Best Cars of 2025 is out! 13 perfect options for EVERY driver profile. Everything tested. See here ⬆

  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with emojis not displaying in your SEO meta description. Thank you for providing detailed information about the steps you’ve already taken.

Since you’ve already checked for plugin conflicts and ensured that your database is configured with utf8mb4, here are a few additional things you might want to consider:

    1. Database Collation: Ensure that the collation of your database tables is set to utf8mb4_unicode_ci or utf8mb4_general_ci. Sometimes, even if the database is set to utf8mb4, individual tables or columns may not be.

    2. Theme Compatibility: Even though you have disabled all plugins, sometimes themes can also interfere with how data is saved. You might want to switch to a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Twenty-One) temporarily to see if the issue persists.

    3. Check for JavaScript Errors: There could be JavaScript-related errors affecting the saving process. You can check for these errors by opening the Developer Tools Console in your browser. Here’s how to do it in Chrome:

      • Open Chrome and navigate to your post editing page.
      • Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect.
      • Click on the Console tab to see if there are any errors reported.

      Open Developer Tools
      Open console tab

    4. Server Configuration: Sometimes server settings can also affect how data is stored. If you have access to your server settings, ensure that it supports utf8mb4 encoding.

If after trying these suggestions the issue still persists, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so that a human agent from our support team can assist you further.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this issue for you soon!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and bringing your concern to our attention.

We tested emojis on our end and we can see it is working properly on Rank Math title and description.

Since it is not working on your site, you can get in touch with your web hosting provider and inform them about the issue as they might be able to fix this with your DB.

However, there is still an option to add the emoji to your title and description. Instead of using emojis directly on your site, you can use the HTML version of the emojis. Here is a tool that can help you convert emojis in HTML: https://www.online-toolz.com/tools/unicode-html-entities-convertor.php

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
