Why is GSC URL property rather than Domain Property is created?

This is a follow up for https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/google-search-console-domain-property-vs-url/ . I was busy and didn’t get to this sooner, and it’s now closed so I can’t post there.

I actually do know the difference between URL and domain property in GSC. My question is why Rank Math creates a URL, rather than a domain property? Is that because it’s unable to do DNS verification, and it’s easier to do URL?

The thing is, I find myself always changing the GSC connection by creating the Domain Property manually, and reconnecting Rank Math to select it. Can’t it just give me a choice to set up domain property, and ask for any necessary DNS verifications, etc?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Our plugin doesn’t support the domain property and we only rely on the URL prefix method.

If you connect Rank Math with your Google account Rank Math will automatically verify the website as a URL prefix property, which is why you are seeing the verification code in the page source.

I hope this clarifies your query.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
