Hey guys,
Just curious if you could check that this isn’t an issue with Rank Math. Couple quick questions:
1. Should the homepage version with the trailing slash (which is the canonical version of the homepage) be included in the sitemap?
2. The page number URL’s are set to noindex, but seem to be getting submitted to GSC anyway. Is there a setting in Rank Math that would help fix this?
Thanks,
Joel

Hello,
Thank you for that information.
I’ve checked your sitemap, and your homepage is already showing. Also, I’ve enabled the Noindex Paginated Pages in Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Misc Pages for your paginated pages to not get indexed.
You can remove again all your submitted sitemaps in your Google Search Console account and resubmit your main sitemap only /sitemap_index.xml then give Google some time to recrawl your site.
If the issue still persists, click the validate fix button and give again some time to validate your sitemaps.
I hope that helps.
Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.
Okay, I’ll let you know how it goes.
Hello,
We will keep this ticket open until you confirm that your issue is resolved. Let us know if you need any further assistance with this.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Well, I gave it a few days and Google still doesn’t seem to want to send traffic to the site.
I guess it’s outside of your remit to say what could be causing the problem since the plugin is set up correctly?
Hello,
In order to get the traffic on your website, Please make sure you have quality content on your website and are well optimized. although, there are so many factors at play.
1. How competitive is your keyword
2. How new/old is your website
3. How many backlinks you have
4. If your content is better than the competition
5. If your domain authority is better than the competition.and many others too long to list here.
In short, keep at it and keep producing better content than your competitors and acquire more links than your competitors in order to get better traffic.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Hello,
Adding to my colleague’s reply, I suggest you have a look at this article from Brian Dean regarding ranking factors of Google: https://backlinko.com/google-ranking-factors
Along with working on the on-page optimizations, I suggest you also work on the points mentioned in the above article to increase your chances of getting ranked higher and eventually attract more traffic.
Hope that helps and if there’s anything else that we can assist you with, please let us know.
Thank you.
Thanks guys. We’re confident it’s a problem with the site. Our client’s dev team is working on the finished version and we’re just trying to get Google to start ranking what there is of the unfinished version in the meantime.
I realized that the site was setup whereby the category slugs were the same as some of the pillar content pages on the site. I added a label in the Category base in WP and want to submit the category sitemap to see if that helps our situation but I’m getting the below sitemap error message from GSC. Any ideas?

Hello,
Your sitemap seems to be looking good, Please consider resubmitting it.
Here is the screenshot for your reference:

Thanks, Ankit.
I followed the steps in the screencast, removed the sitemap in GSC, and resubmitted it. Still getting the same error message in GSC. What else can I try?
Hello,
Everything is looking good with the sitemap , Is the problem only occurring with the category sitemap? Also you can wait for few more days just to check if whether google is showing false warning?
Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
Hey,
Yes, just waiting a couple of days fixed that particular issue. I still have no idea why Google won’t send the site any traffic. I’ve been testing different things out on the site and would like to leave the ticket open just in case I need your input on Rank Math. I also intend on posting the resolution here to help others out in the future since, if I’m not mistaken, these threads are indexed and live publicly.
Hello,
As we mentioned previously, traffic on the website mainly depends on the ranking of your website. Also, it is a great practice to stay active on social media platforms to attract traffic from there.
Sure, the ticket would remain open and if you need any further assistance, please feel free to reach out.

Hope this helps.
Thank you.
For anyone following this thread in the future…
After having the site checked over by an SEO industry leader and a developer friend of ours, we confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the setup. The problem is that it’s in the medical niche and wasn’t even finished, didn’t have basic things such as a privacy policy etc… so it’s almost certainly an E-A-T issue. We’ll be going to town on increasing the site’s authority and I’m pretty sure that’ll do the job. We were shown some example screenshots of YMYL niche sites that took many months to gain meaningful traction in the SERPs, so if you’re in this position, it’s just something that can happen. GL. Thanks to the Rank Math team.
Hello,
We’re glad that you were able to identify the issue.

Thank you.
