My website post suddenly dropped for over six months and my post stopped showing on serp. Actually my website was hacked but I later cleaned it up and it becomes free of malware and the like but ever since then I don’t get traffics from search engine.

The funny thing is it will be available when I check my google search console but won’t be available in serp.

I have actually complained several times but your representative were not helping enough.

Please help me out on this I don’t want to forfeit my website as it is over 3 years. attached is the screenshot of my GSC and SERP.

Please I won’t mind if it requires I pay some amount of money to get over this.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I’ve checked the post but it is showing the 404 error. That’s why your post is not indexing.

For your website ranking, optimize the post and also work on some Off-page SEO to increase your chances of getting ranked higher:

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

But which link did you try that lead you to 404 page?

    Hello,

Sorry for the confusion. I’ve checked your page and it is set to index.

Indexed, Not Submitted in Sitemap, it is not an issue, it only means that Google has already indexed the posts/pages but not through the sitemap.

It is possible that Google is crawling and indexing the post through the internal links on your website and not through the sitemap, and as a result, the crawl budget for your website is exhausted and Google is not able to discover the URLs through your sitemap.

However, please note that crawling and indexing of the website depend on the authority and crawl budget of the website.

It is completely upto Google if they want to index or not index your website. So, if you haven’t willingly or accidentally made your products noindex and Google still isn’t indexing your products – it means that either Google doesn’t want to index or hasn’t crawled your products yet because it hasn’t allocated that much crawl budget to your website.

Please check this website for more details.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

How is what you’re saying related to what I said?

I said my posts are indexed and I just showed you the proof but it’s not coming out on SERP and you’re telling me that it’s not an issue that it’s not available in Sitemap…

Can’t I just get anykne who would understand the issue here and put me through?

Or maybe I should stop using RankMath, maybe it’s the cause of the issue I’m experiencing.

    Hello,

We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Firstly, as your website was hacked and then the issue started, this is not related to Rank Math.

However, I checked the post you’ve shared and it seems like it is published on July 11th, 2022 (yesterday). Here are some screenshots for a quick reference:
    https://i.rankmath.com/2cjuUy
    https://i.rankmath.com/KC5ugp

Please note that it is completely normal for a newly published post/page/website to take time before it gets crawled or indexed by Google.

It is indeed weird that Google Search Console is showing that the URL is on Google, but we have seen this issue in the past. We have many times seen discrepancies in GSC and the actual search results.

As Google Search Console is only a tool for webmasters, it is likely that this might be a temporary issue in the tool.

Since the post is fairly new, we suggest you give Google some time to crawl the website and see if the post gets indexed.

    Thank you.

But all my old post are experiencing the same issue… Even when they’re indexed yet they won’t be found in SERP

    Hello,

It doesn’t seem like it is the case with all the old posts. I randomly checked a few of your old posts and they’re already indexed.

Currently, you have around 11,800 indexed URLs on Google. Here’s the search result for a quick reference: https://www.google.com/search?q=site:virginsound.com.ng

Could you share the URL of a few old posts that are not yet indexed so that we can see if there’s something configured incorrectly?

On a different note, while checking your website, I found that you’ve mentioned the post and page sitemap URLs in the robots.txt file: https://i.rankmath.com/n0ji6z

There are two issues with this, firstly, it is recommended to only include the index sitemap URL (/sitemap_index.xml) in the robots.txt, and secondly, as you have multiple post sitemaps, the post sitemap URL that you’ve added would not cover them.

Please modify your robots.txt file and replace the sitemap URLs with the index sitemap URL.

If you’re using Rank Math’s robots.txt file, here’s how you can edit it: https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-edit-robots-txt-with-rank-math/

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

Alright I will change that…. Besides it was when the issue started I started changing the robot.txt file.

Also, my robots.txt file are appearing in https://virginsound.com.ng/robots.txt and https://www.virginsound.com.ng/robots.txt which I believe is not normal, I mean it should be redirecting to one url which is https://www.virginsound.com.ng/robots.txt.

    Hello,

Both robots.txt link variations generate the same content so this shouldn’t cause any issue. However, if you wish for all of your robots.txt URL variations to redirect to just one version, you may check this one with your hosting provider to reconfigure your .htaccess.

After checking your robots.txt file, you may clear your website cache and give Google some time to re-crawl your entire website.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

I have changed the robot.txt file and yet there is no improvement.

    Hello,

It seems like you misunderstood the robots.txt part, that was an issue I noticed on your website which can affect the crawling of the sitemaps, but this would not have a direct effect on the rankings.

As for the indexing part, I checked again without any variations, and there are around 15,200 indexed URLs of your website. Here’s the search result: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Avirginsound.com.ng

Around 14 URLs are indexed in the last 7 days: https://www.google.com/search?q=site:virginsound.com.ng&tbs=qdr:w&ei=rsvOYqj8NPvZseMPzPSg6A4&start=0&sa=N&ved=2ahUKEwioi9Sb__X4AhX7bGwGHUw6CO04ChDy0wN6BAgBEDo&cshid=1657719874074333&biw=1536&bih=754&dpr=1.25

As previously mentioned, you can share a few old URLs that are not yet indexed so that we can check if there’s anything configured incorrectly.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Hello, in my previous messages when I was talking it sounds like I was stupid or had no clue about how SEO works because you people don’t really understand what I was talking about or just decided to not assist.

Here is a post I created some hours ago https://www.virginsound.com.ng/mp3/fazzy-better-than-my-ex/ which I only have in my website, however the post was indexed and available but when I search for it with the keyword “fazzy better than my ex” that I used my site won’t come up in the SERP not until I input the name of my site at the front of the keyword like this “fazzy better than my ex virginsound” attached is the screenshot.

Please this thing is killing me it has been going on for more than 8 months now.

Someone should please come to my aid.

    Nigel
    Rank Math business

    Hello,

I tested the keywords “fazzy better than my ex” and the results showed posts that are not related to the keyword. This means Google does not understand the intent of your keyword.

I also tested whether a visitor would be able to play the song on the page when I clicked the “Play Now” button and the song would not play, instead I would be taken to an advert, or nothing would happen. This experience may be contributing to your website not ranking high. Screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/5LCkfi

That said, as far as I can tell, all Rank Math features seem to be working on your website. The Google Search Console index coverage report is the best place to check for issues related to Rank Math features. There may be other issues unrelated to Rank Math that are affecting your ranking such as the “Play Now” button mentioned above.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.

So what could be the cause of that and that suddenly happened after my site was hacked and I resolved it.

And is there anything I can do from my end to correct the issues of Google not understanding every of my post?

    Hello,
